On Saturday March 4, members from our chapter attended the friends of the NRA dinner at the Paso Robles event center. The friends of the NRA have been working for over 30 years to support the second amendment and local shooting activities and venues. I have been a NRA member for many years, but never attended one of these events. The friends of the NRA are very successful at raising money and it showed at this event. It was very instructive and we learned a great deal by attending the dinner.
I am grateful to Noel Ryan for bringing this event to our attention and to Roy Barba and Phil Maysonave for encouraging us to attend. Our members attending: Dan Hathaway, Dennis Javens, John and Tara Kelly, Roy Barba, and Phil Maysonave. In addition, CRPA, Santa Barbara chapter chairman, Tim Woolever, and his wife LeAnne made the trip north to attend this event with us. Ms. Defense, Kelly Reeves, sat at our table. She let us know of her intentions to join the CRPA and our chapter. Furthermore she indicated her willingness to participate as an instructor at the CRPA Rendezvous in June.
There are a number of upcoming friends of the NRA dinners held locally. We will get them posted and I encourage all that can to attend these events. It’s a great way to support our right to keep and bear arms, and to make connections within the 2A community that will help us to be successful in the future.

Thanks Tom!
My wife and I have not attended the Atascadero, Morro Bay and Santa Maria dinners. As we have won something at each one, the Morro Bay last Friday was the most lucrative. 6 firearms and a safe!!!
