Firearm Safety

Three Fundamental Rules For Safe Gun Handling – These Rules Must Be Followed At All Times

ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. You are responsible for where your bullet ends up. Know what’s behind your target too.

ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. For those with striker-fired pistols, never pull that trigger to field strip the gun without first checking that the magazine is removed and physically and visually verifying that there is no round in the chamber. Then only pull the trigger when the firearm is pointed in a safe direction.

ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. State law requires that all firearms be unloaded during transport (CCWs are an exception).
