Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Put The Website Address Into Internet Searches (Like Google or Bing)

Here’s a great way to avoid scams; there are a lot of folks out there who will use an internet search tool like Google or Bing to call up a web address. For example, if they have the URL or web address of this site, crapslo.org, they will call up a search engine and enter that web address. You’re going to get a bunch of search results returned and one of the results will likely be the CRPASLO.org website.

However, many of the top search results will be sponsored (paid) results from quite possibly, spammers. If you click on one of those links, you might end up divulging personal or financial information to the scammers.

To prevent this from happening to you, always enter the web address (URL, ex. carpslo.org) into the address area at the top of your web browser. If your browser defaults to a search engine page on startup, you can still use the web address or URL box at the top.

If your search engine results include sponsored (or paid) ads at the top of the results list, then scroll down past the results that start with “AD” and click on the most relevant non-ad link.
